Massage is an integral part of traditional Chinese healing arts. Like acupuncture, it can be successfully used to treat a variety of medical conditions. Practitioners of other forms of therapeutic bodywork, sports medicine and acupuncture have long sought a definitive text of massage methods, theory and applications. Chinese Bodywork, three years in preparation, and incorporating the experience of over a dozen of China's leading practitioners, is sure to become the standard for the study of Chinese massage (tuina). Its highly detailed, careful descriptions of massage techniques are followed by an extensive presentation of treatment strategies for acute and chronic disease, physical and sports injuries. The editor of this work is director of the Shandong Hospital of TCM and is director of the Shandong Tuina Association. He is known for his expertise in the treatment of back and joint trauma and disease, and his ability to relieve pain without drugs.
